Cemetery walk set for Sunday

COLRAIN — The Catamount Hill Association will host a cemetery walk on Sunday, May 21, to explore the lives of some early Colrain residents who are interred in West Branch Cemetery.

The walk will explore the lives behind gravestones bearing the names of Cary, Farnsworth, Shippee, Stacy, Bowen, Smith, Davenport, Adams and Dwight. Among these are a veteran of Bunker Hill, an innkeeper who distilled gin, a Civil War soldier who was murdered for his military pension and a pioneering beekeeper.

The walk is free and open to the public. It will start at 2 p.m. at the white marble obelisk dedicated to Maj. Hezekiah Smith. The walk will be postponed to the following Sunday in the event of rain.
