Learn about pollinator habitat in March 22 program

CHARLEMONT — The Hawlemont Agriculture and You (HAY) program will host a presentation on Saturday, March 22, detailing what residents can do to help pollinators thrive. The event will be at 10 a.m at Hawlemont Regional School.

Native plant expert Amy Meltzer will discuss the biodiversity crisis and the importance of providing habitat for pollinators to maintain a sustainable ecosystem. Attendees will learn about different native plants and how to support a biodiverse landscape.

Master Plan brainstorming session set for March 27

CHARLEMONT — Town officials are seeking community input as to what the future of Charlemont should look like and what should be included in the town’s latest update to its Master Plan. A visioning session will be held at Hawlemont Regional School at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 27.

All are invited to attend and provide their thoughts on what the Master Plan should include, and fill out a survey for a chance to win $100. The survey can be found at surveymonkey.com/r/Charlemont.

Wanted: New Cowell Gym director

SHELBURNE — The town is seeking a new director for Cowell Gymnasium, as current Director John Walsh has announced he will be resigning, effective June 30.

The gym director is responsible for facility rentals, coordinating repairs and renovations, managing funds and working with the Recreation Committee. The position offers a yearly stipend of $3,570.

Walsh told the Selectboard he plans to stay in the role long enough to finish a few facility projects, including replacing windows. The board accepted his resignation and thanked Walsh for his work.
