Colrain Historical Society hosting industrial history talk

COLRAIN — The Colrain Historical Society will host an industrial history program following its business meeting on Thursday, June 8, in the Stacy Barn, located behind the Pitt House at 8 Main Road.

The expansion of Griswold Manufacturing Co. in Colrain was made possible by the creation of the industrial canal in Turners Falls after the Civil War. A recent video made by the Montague Historical Society, “The Canal at Montague,” traces that history, how Turners Falls grew around the canal and how the Griswolds joined this industrial complex. The video will be shown and discussed with videographer Chris Clawson.

The industrial history program will start at 7:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
