Rabies clinic set for Feb. 29

BUCKLAND — A rabies clinic at the Shelburne Falls Veterinary Clinic on Route 2 will be held Feb. 29 from 10 a.m. to noon.

According to a notice from Buckland Town Clerk Janice Purington, the costs for the vaccines are as follows:

■Rabies for both dogs and cats — $22

■Distemper for dogs — $30

■Distemper for cats — $25

■Lime for dogs — $44

■Leukemia for cats — $35

Ballots available, voter registration announced

BUCKLAND — Absentee ballots for the March 3 presidential primary are available at the Town Clerk’s Office.

Additionally, there will be a voter registration session Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Town Clerk’s Office. If you are not already a registered voter and want to vote in the March 3 presidential primary, this is the deadline to register to vote.

Ballots available, election dates announced

SHELBURNE — Absentee ballots are available at the Town Clerk’s Office during normal business hours of Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Absentee ballots must be returned to the Town Clerk’s Office by noon on March 2.

According to a notice from Town Clerk Joe Judd, absentee ballots must be requested in writing by either the voter or the voter’s family member. Residents can fill out an application at the Town Clerk’s Office or through from the State Elections Division page.

When completing an application, residents can indicate whether they are requesting a ballot for a specific election or for all elections this year. Judd notes that absentee ballot applications expire at the end of each calendar year.

If you are a voter with a permanent physical disability, you may file a note from your doctor with Judd.

Other important dates regarding this year’s spring elections are as follows:

■Feb. 12 — Last day to register to vote in the presidential primary

■Feb. 15 — Nomination papers for annual town election are available

■Feb. 24 to Feb 28 — Early voting during the town clerk’s normal business hours, plus Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

■March 3 — Presidential primary; polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

■March 17 — Citizens petitions are due to the Town Clerk’s Office by 4 p.m.

■March 30 — Last day to return nomination papers for the annual town election

■April 15 — Last day to register to vote in the Annual Town Meeting

■April 28 — Last day to register to vote in annual town meeting

■May 5 — Annual Town Meeting starts at 7 p.m.

■May 18 — Annual town election; polls are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Assessor’s Office changing hours

SHELBURNE — Starting Monday, the Assessor’s Office will operate under new hours.

According to a notice from Assistant Assessor Jennifer Morse, the new hours will be Mondays from 8 a.m. to noon and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., until further notice.
