Sen. Mark, Rep. Blais invite public to forum

CHARLEMONT — State Sen. Paul Mark and state Rep. Natalie Blais invite the public to a “ReMarks and Refreshments” forum on Friday, Feb. 16, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Charlemont Town Hall, 157 Main St.

The legislators welcome the public to ask questions or offer up comments about opportunities and/or challenges facing western Massachusetts. Mark and Blais will also share legislative updates from the State House.

Mark’s Berkshire, Hampden, Franklin and Hampshire District consists of 57 municipalities in western Massachusetts. He is chair of the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development; vice chair of the Joint Committee on Bonding, Capital Expenditures and State Assets; and vice chair of the Joint Committee on Transportation.

Blais’ 1st Franklin District consists of the towns of Ashfield, Bernardston, Buckland, Charlemont, Colrain, Conway, Deerfield, four precincts in Greenfield, Hawley, Heath, Leverett, Leyden, Monroe, Montague, Rowe, Shelburne, Sunderland and Whately. She is vice chair of the Joint Committee on Agriculture.

The Charlemont “ReMarks and Refreshments” event is one in a series of forums Mark is organizing in an effort to reach all 57 communities.

Ashfield student makes Champlain College dean’s list

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Ashfield resident Hale Walls was named to the dean’s list at Champlain College for the fall semester. Hale is a sophomore at Champlain College and a graduate of Mohawk Trail Regional School in Buckland.

To achieve dean’s list status, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while taking a minimum of 12 credits.
