Ashfield OKs bridge, broadband reserves

ASHFIELD — Special town meeting voters this week put aside money for future bridge repairs and broadband costs. The 39 voters at Monday’s meeting agreed to appropriate $50,000 for the highway/bridge capital expenses and $40,000 for broadband capital expenses.

Hinds’ office hours in Ashfield

ASHFIELD — State Sen. Adam Hinds’ aides will hold office hours in Ashfield on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Town Hall, at 420 Main St.

Hawley adopts pot moratorium

HAWLEY — Special town meeting voters unanimously agreed to put a temporary moratorium on recreational marijuana establishments, to give town planners more time to consider town bylaws to regulate such businesses, and address public safety issues. If approved, the moratorium would be in effect through Dec. 31, 2018.

Voters also agreed to spend $10,000 from the Highway Department Equipment Stabilization fund for a new snow plow.
