Farming lifestyles will hit the big screen Friday and Saturday during the Up Up! Farm Film Festival at Just Roots Farm, 34 Glenbrook Drive, in Greenfield.

According to a press release from the Franklin Community Co-op, one of the Greenfield festival’s organizers, the event will include a collection of feature length independently produced films and shorts. Each explores questions of farmland access, rural livelihoods and sustainability of people and place.

The event is organized by the Progress Partnership and the Greenhorns, in partnership with Just Roots Farm and the Franklin Community Co-op.

The Up Up! Farm film collection includes 17 hours of documentaries by 13 independent filmmakers, though not all will be screened during the Greenfield event.

Opening night from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday will include an introduction by Just Roots Farm, a screening of “Root Hog or Die,” with popcorn and beverages served by Hawks & Reed Performing Arts Center.

Saturday’s screenings from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. include “The Greenhorns,” “The Perennial Plate,” “Brookford Almanac,” “Planting Justice,” “Sourlands,” “To Make a Farm” and “Future Farmers in the Spotlight.” A free shuttle bus from the Pushkin to Just Roots Farm will transport visitors throughout the day on Saturday.
