UMass basketball: Minutemen come up short in 77-70 road loss at George Mason

The UMass men's basketball team dropped a 77-70 decision to George Mason in Atlantic 10 action on Saturday afternoon in Fairfax, Virginia.

Rahsool Diggins scored 21 points to pace the Minutemen (6-11, 1-3). A bulk of the senior's points came from 3-point land (4-for-8). Diggins is now averaging 22 points a game in Atlantic-10 action.

UMass forced 17 turnovers from the Patriots (12-5, 3-1) and capitalized with 25 points off those possessions.

Jaylen Curry (15 points) and Marqui Worthy (13 points) had strong games for the Minutemen.

Darius Maddox had 18 points as George Mason's top point-scorer, and finished the contest shooting 7-for-15 from the field. Four Patriots players had at least 10 points.

UMass stunned Dayton, 76-72, at Mullins Center on Wednesday for its first conference victory of the season, however its magic ran out against the Patriots on the road.

The Minutemen go to Fordham next on Wednesday. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
