LEVERETT —Battling a solar glare, a pickup truck crashed into the rear of an oil truck on North Leverett Road Wednesday morning, Leverett Police Chief Scott Minckler said.

The driver of the pickup was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital with minor injuries, Minckler said.

With the oil truck stopped on the side of the road for a delivery, with its flashers on, the driver of the pickup, heading east, reported being unable see the oil truck because of the glare, Minckler said.

“That time of the morning the solar glare is horrible,” Minckler said.

The crash occurred around 9:30 a.m., forcing police to close North Leverett Road in both directions for about an hour.
