GREENFIELD — Massachusetts State Police arrested three individuals on Interstate 91 Thursday night on various drug trafficking and firearm charges.

At around 8:10 p.m., a trooper working out of the Shelburne Falls barracks was monitoring traffic on Interstate 91 in Greenfield when he saw a gray Toyota SUV that, after a registry query, revealed the registration of the New York plate to be expired, according to a State Police press release. The trooper also clocked the vehicle traveling 84 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Once stopped, the trooper was able to confirm the expired registration, according to the release. All three occupants were removed and the trooper requested a tow for the vehicle.

Further investigation into the inventory of the vehicle revealed 193 grams of cocaine, 180 wax bags containing suspected fentanyl, a knife with white powder and a .45 caliber Glock model 30 with nine live cartridges, the release states.

All three occupants of the vehicle — Joanne Mitchell, 29, of St. Johnsbury, Vt., Lance Harper, 28, of New York, N.Y., and Jermaine Taylor, 48, of Brooklyn, N.Y. — were arrested on charges of trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to distribute a Class A drug, conspiracy to violate drug law, carrying a loaded firearm, improper storage of a firearm and four other firearm-related charges. Individual charges were also filed for each of the three occupants, the release states.

Bail was set at $50,000 each, and all three were transferred to the Franklin County Jail and House of Correction.
