AMHERST — As of Monday afternoon, two UMass women’s basketball guards have entered the transfer portal looking to take their talents elsewhere.

Senior Alexsia Rose and junior Kristin Williams have hit the portal following a disappointing 5-27 season.

Williams and Rose were the two leading scorers for UMass, with Williams tossing in 11.6 points per game and Rose adding 11.4 per contest. Williams emerged as the Minutewomen’s go-to scorer toward the latter half of the year and hit some clutch shots down the stretch on several different occasions.

As for Rose, she was fantastic for UMass once returning from her early-season injury. She immediately brought a spark to the offense and was a pesky perimeter defender as well – coming up with multiple steals in eight games this year. Rose scored double digits in eight of her last 10 games, tallying nine points in each of the two she didn’t reach 10.

The Minutewomen back court is going to look much different come next fall, as their two leading scorers and two leading facilitators (both were No. 1 and 2 in assists on the team) will not be with the team.
