Y Full-day Preschool Openings: The Y has a few mid-year openings for its full-day preschool. There are two classrooms; one for 2.9- to 4-year-olds and another for 4- to 5-year-olds. There are two-day (Tuesday and Thursday) and five-day options available. The students get to use the gym, pool and gymnastics center for weekly P.E. options. March/April Classes: Registration is in progress for March/April classes. Classes for youth include swimming and gymnastics lessons, basketball skills (classes for ages 4 to 5, 6 to 8 and 9 to 12), Active Games PE class and Healthy Kids. Classes for adults include water fitness, water therapy, strength training, diabetic care, diabetic prevention program and the annual lifeguard training course. Trivia Night: On Saturday, the Y will be sponsoring a trivia night fundraiser to support YMCA programs for veterans. The event will take place at the Moose Lodge of Greenfield and doors open at 6:15 p.m. There will be 10 quick rounds, which will start at 7. Cost is $10 per player, tables of eight players. $100 for the winning team. Bring your own snacks; cash bar available. Raffle tickets available to win great prizes. Middle School Basketball: YMCA middle school basketball league is open to boys and girls in grades 5 to 8 who want to further develop skills and play more competitively. Players will participate in basketball workouts where they will fine tune fundamentals and learn advanced basketball techniques and offenses. Begins Starts Tuesday, Feb. 27, and runs six weeks. Practice Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. and scrimmages on Thursdays from 6 to 7. Potential games on Sundays with other YMCAs; times to be determined. Fees $20 for Y members and $30 for non-members. Lifeguard Training Course: Once a year, the YMCA provides a Red Cross lifeguard training course. This certificate provides excellent employment opportunities at indoor and outdoor swimming pools and lakes. Must be at least 15 years old and a strong swimmer. The course is 36 hours and includes first aid and CPR certificates. The class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. starting March 6. There will be an information meeting Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 6:30 p.m. Fee is $350 for Y members and $385 for nonmembers. Limited enrollment. Call 773-3646, ext. 427, with questions.

Preseason Golf Prep: Get ready for golf season with the Y and the Northfield Golf Club. This class is to provide golfers with balance and stretch techniques, core stability and movement prep to help with the upcoming golf season. Participants will leave with enhanced knowledge of the fundamentals of golf and the necessary skills for optimum performance. Class takes place March 1, 8, 15 and 22 at the YMCA with Shane Foster. Then join Foster at Northfield Golf Club on the new short game practice area for two additional classes. (dates to be determined.) Each golfer will also receive two rounds of nine holes.
