Writers’ Lunch: Monday through Wednesday this week from noon to 2 p.m., the library’s LeVanway Room is open for Writers’ Lunch, a self-directed free writing time open to any writer who is looking for a place to work. Bring your own lunch and beverage and stop in for all or part of the Writers’ Lunch.

Open for Business: Telecommuters, local business people, and all others who are looking for reliable Wi-Fi and a quiet workspace are invited to use the library’s Greenfield Meeting Room on Monday this week from 2 to 5 p.m.

American Writers and the Great War: Join local presenter Barry Deitz today at 6 p.m. to learn how the lives and the fiction of some of our country’s greatest authors were impacted by World War I. This program is part of the GPL’s 100th Anniversary of World War I Series.

Mother Goose on the Loose: Join Kay Lyons on Tuesday this week from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at a lap-sit story hour for children age 3 and under, with a grownup, at the library. Kay reads books, leads the group in hand rhymes, and uses puppets to teach animal sounds and other concepts new to the very young. Each session is 45 minutes, with half an hour of structured activity and about fifteen minutes of visiting time.

Children’s Book Writers Group: A critique group for adults who write for children meets in the LeVanway Room every third Tuesday of the month from 6 to 8 pm. Nell Wright is facilitator. Participants discuss skills, share tips and opportunities for development, and read and discuss their stories. For more information, call 413-772-1544.

100th Anniversary of World War I Series: “All Quiet on the Western Front” by Erich Maria Remarquewill be the topic of discussion led by Barry McColgan on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Copies of the book are available at the front desk.

Teen and Tween Half Day Lounge: Another half day of school on Wednesday this week and nothing to do? Greenfield Public Library is offering free pizza, an awesome new release movie, board games and a chance to hang out with friends. Open to middle and high school students from noon to 3 p.m.

Chess Club: Meet up with other chess players at the Greenfield Public Library on Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.Contactcalderrossi@gmail.com with any questions. The last Wednesday of each month will feature a speed chess tournament.

Library Closed: The GPL will be closed on Thursday and Friday this week for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We will be open Monday through Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m, and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Online resources are available at www.greenfieldpubliclibrary.org.
