GREENFIELD — Miles McCloy, a 37-year-old Leyden resident, appeared in Greenfield District Court Tuesday for allegedly possessing and attempting to deal illicit drugs, including 422 bags of Ecstasy.

McCloy was arrested Friday at 5 p.m. at the StrangeCreek Music Festival at Camp Kee-Wanee in Greenfield. He faces two felony charges and three misdemeanors for carrying or attempting to distribute Class B and Class C drugs.

At the time of McCloy’s arrest, officers found and seized money and a range of drugs in his backpack, according to a Greenfield Police Department report. The items included $2,278.30 in cash; 422 individual bags of “Molly;” four blister packs of Viagra with eight pills; four packs of Etizolam with 29 pills; a small glass jar containing DMT; and two jars containing psilocybin mushrooms.

McCloy was released on bail for $1,000. He is scheduled to appear in court again for a pretrial conference June 28.

The police report states that a man at the camping area reported to Officer Joshua Lemay and Sergeant Jason Haskins, who were present at the festival, that McCloy offered him “Molly,” a nickname for Ecstasy. Lemay and Haskins approached McCloy and asked him specifically what drugs he was selling. After McCloy was hesitant to answer, the report states, officers told him they “already knew what he was selling.”

“He put his head down and stated, ‘Molly,’” the report states. When asked how much, McCloy looked at officers blankly and mumbled incoherently before he admitted to carrying “a couple of ounces.”

McCloy reportedly told officers he is a recovering drug user and needed to pay off debts acquired during this period. He refused to identify the person to whom he owed money.
