MONTAGUE — The one contested race — for a three-year term as tree warden — went to incumbent Mark Stevens during Monday’s annual town election.

Stevens kept the position by 50 votes, receiving 257 votes to Diana Souza’s 207.

The election saw 504 voters, or 8.28 percent turnout, which is low according to Town Clerk Deb Bourbeau. However, she noted it’s “typical of the turnout when nothing is contested.”

This year also marks the last election using wooden ballot boxes. At Annual Town Meeting earlier this month, voters approved an article replacing the wooden ballot boxes with up to seven optical scanners using $50,000 from free cash.

This year also marked a change for polling locations. In April, the Selectboard approved moving voters in precincts three, four and five to new locations. Residents of precincts three and four voted at the Montague Senior Center, while precinct five voted at Town Hall.

The remainder of the positions were uncontested. The results are:

■Selectboard, three-year term: Chris Botwell Sr.

■Town clerk, three-year term: Deb Bourbeau

■Treasure/tax collector, three-year term: Eileen Seymour

■Assessor, three-year term: Teresa Miner

■Board of Health, three-year term: Albert Cummings Jr.

■Recreation Department three-year term: Albert Cummings Jr.

■Montague Housing Authority, five-year term: Stanley Zera Jr.

■Library trustees, three-year terms: Karen Latka, Nancy Crowell and Margot Malachowski

One library trustee position, with a one-year term, remains unfilled.
