The line chart shows COVID-19 cases continuing to rise as the omicron and delta variants continue to spread in the region, according to data from the state Department of Public Health.
These two weeks saw 2,142 people test positive for the virus in Franklin County — meaning more than 26% of all 8,073 virus cases detected in the county since March 2020 have been identified in this two-week period.
Greenfield’s caseload skyrocketed to 708 in this two-week span, which is the highest in the region and nearly 30% of total cases reported in the past two years. Athol follows behind with 526 cases. Montague and Orange’s cases stayed relatively steady at 261 and 295, respectively.
Seven people died due to the virus in Franklin County over this two-week span.

■Walgreens at 5 Pierce St., Greenfield, MA 01301. Appointments are needed. Those looking to sign up must do so either at walgreens.com or using the Walgreens app.
■Baystate’s testing center, 33 Riddell St., Greenfield, MA 01301. Open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon. Call 413-795-8378 to make an appointment. A physician’s referral is required.
