TURNERS FALLS — The Turners Falls Fire District will hold a Special District meeting to vote on a Tax Increment Finance Agreement (TIF) for Ja’Duke Center for the Performing Arts’ proposed expansion.

If approved, the performing arts group and preschool will receive a TIF plan of nearly $100,000 for its roughly $2 million plans to expand its facilities by $18,000 square-feet.

The TIF was already approved in a special town meeting at Shea Theater last Thursday, but since Ja’Duke is located in the Fire District, there has to be a special meeting to allow voters in the district to vote.

The town estimates the project could result in about $528,000 in new tax revenue for Montague over the 10-year TIF plan.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Room in the Public Safety Complex in Montague.
