SHUTESBURY — Police Chief Kristin Burgess will lead an informational program on safety awareness and self-protection on Thursday, Sept. 14, at 6:30 p.m. at the Shutesbury Community Church, 6 Town Common Road.
The program, which was postponed from July, is open to the public. It is part of an ongoing series of public service and educational programs hosted by the church.
Burgess encourages women in particular to attend because 90% of sexual assault victims and nearly half of aggravated assault victims are female. Her program, however, will also include information on personal safety, self-protection and self-defense that will benefit everyone.
Refreshments will be served.
