Shutesbury church hosting Hot Dog and Fun Fest

SHUTESBURY — Shutesbury Community Church is sponsoring a free Community Hot Dog and Fun Fest on the town common on Sunday, July 9, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Residents are invited to the town common for hot dogs, beans, chili, chips and beverages, while The Colorful Clarinets Quintet and other local musicians will play music. Games and activities for children will also be available. If it rains, the event will be held at the same time on July 16.

Concert series to welcome Ball in the House
a cappella group

WHATELY — The Watermelon Wednesdays concert series continues on July 12 when Ball in the House will perform at the West Whately Chapel, 153 Conway Road, starting at 7 p.m.

Ball in the House is an R&B, soul and pop a cappella group based in Boston. The group will perform its “And Now I See: Race, Racism and American Music” program, which explores a wide range of African-American music and how their histories connect to today.

Tickets are $22 and can be purchased at watermelonwednesdays.com.

Blais, Mark to hold public forum in Whately on July 14

WHATELY — As part of state Sen. Paul Mark’s “ReMarks & Refreshments” series, the first-term senator invites Whately residents to Town Hall, at 194 Chestnut Plain Road, on Friday, July 14, for a public forum.

The event will take place from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Mark, D-Becket, and state Rep. Natalie Blais, D-Deerfield, will share legislative updates from the State House before engaging in a conversation with attendees about opportunities and challenges for Whately and western Massachusetts.
