Sewer overflow notifications now available in Deerfield

DEERFIELD — Residents can now sign up to receive notifications when untreated sewage is released into area waterways.

The alert system was created following the passage of a 2021 law signed by former Gov. Charlie Baker that requires public notification when untreated sewage is released into the town’s bodies of water. When a discharge or overflow occurs, the town’s wastewater department sends out a public notification and places an alert on the town website.

Residents can sign up for notifications by visiting deerfieldma.us/list.aspx.
