Mount Toby Concerts presents ‘Power of the Protest Song’

LEVERETT — Mount Toby Concerts will continue its concert series on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m. at 194 Long Plain Road, when Pamela Means will present “The Power of the Protest Song: Our Shared History and Present Day.”

Part performance and part presentation, Means will explore the origin stories and lineages of protest songs and how those meanings and effects transform through time, as well as how those songs continue to inspire current racial and social justice movements. The Easthampton-based artist will perform original songs and recognizable covers, too.

Donations of $15 to $25 are suggested and masks are required indoors. Seats can be reserved by emailing diacrowe@yahoo.com or calling 413-336-2589.

Hearing planned for North Poland Road bridge

CONWAY — The state Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is holding a virtual design public hearing for the North Poland Road bridge on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m.

MassDOT is planning to replace the existing bridge with a two-lane bridge, and is seeking the public’s suggestions and feedback on the project.
