GREENFIELD — Hope & Olive restaurant is hosting its monthly Soup and Games night on Sunday to raise money to benefit students as they return to school.
Money raised from the fundraiser, which will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., will allow the Greenfield Education Foundation to get equipment students need to begin the school year, such as dry erase boards, markers and Chromebooks.
The goal of the fundraiser is to raise $4,000, which will be matched by an equally sized gift from a donor, according to Hope & Olive owner Jim Zaccara. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the restaurant meet that goal by September.
“We have a lot of confidence in being able to meet that level,” he said.
Amy McMahan of Mesa Verde is providing some of the soup, Zaccara said, with Hope & Olive making the rest. Customers are encouraged to make a donation, pick up food and play a game on their own.
“We toyed with the idea of doing some game outside,” Zaccara said. “But people should play their games in the park or at home.”
The Greenfield Education Foundation will coordinate with principals, he said, to get the purchased products to students.
