SHELBURNE — The Senior Center, in collaboration with the Shelburne Historical Society, plans to take residents back in time to explore life from the 1930s to the 1970s during a program on Tuesday.

The presentation, “The Social History Project: Exploring Our Cultural Heritage,” will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Historical Society, located at 33 Severance St.

The event will feature speakers who have personally experienced and lived through the transformative years of the mid-20th century. According to a notice from Senior Center Director Julianne “Juli” Moreno, these individuals will shed light on different facets of our culture, including transportation, the food and dairy industries, childhood games and family dynamics. The Social History Project seeks to provide a holistic view of society during this era, examining how people navigated and managed the challenges and joys of everyday life.

“We are thrilled to bring together this exceptional group of individuals who have experienced firsthand the cultural shifts and transformations of the mid-20th century,” Moreno said. “The Social History Project offers a unique opportunity to learn from their perspectives and engage in meaningful conversations about our shared heritage.”

In addition, historical items and photographs will be on display, providing a visual journey into the past and serving as touchstones for further exploration and dialogue. Refreshments will be served.
