Western Mass CodePink Women for Peace will present its 18th annual celebration for International Women’s Day at First Churches, 129 Main St. in Northampton, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Doors open at 6:30.
The event will be in person and online. For the Zoom link, register at masspeaceaction.org/events.
“International Women’s Day is a celebration and taking stock of women’s struggles for system change and a new world that champions ‘women, life, freedom,’” Terisa Turner, a CodePink organizer, said in a statement.
The event will feature special guest musician, educator and activist Pamela Means. Speakers include high schoolers Marisol Pierce Bonifaz and Alice Jenkins of Generation Ratify, plus Hakimeh Zadeh, who fled Iran twice due to political oppression, and Nayana LaFond, an award-winning artist and art organizer. The Raging Grannies and the Offbeat Womyn Drummers will also perform.
