GREENFIELD — Dr. Ruth Potee has been named medical director for addiction services for all of Behavioral Health Network (BHN), expanding her role with the organization.

Previously, the Northfield resident was medical director for addiction services at BHN’s Franklin Recovery Center in Greenfield, according to a BHN press release.

As medical director for addiction services for BHN, Potee will oversee the comprehensive array of addiction services provided throughout Franklin and Hampden counties. She will also lead BHN’s campaign to expand access to methadone and buprenorphine treatment in communities where access is limited.

Potee will continue to teach about the impact of addiction and trauma in patients’ lives. In addition, she will work to bridge the transition from incarceration to the community for patients who struggle with addiction.

“I look forward to expanding my role from serving BHN’s Greenfield hub to the organization’s entire footprint so that we can more effectively help those who struggle with addiction and mental health concurrently,” Potee said. “I have worked for BHN for the last three years in Greenfield and have been impressed with the leadership and my colleagues.”

Prior to joining BHN, Potee practiced as a family physician at Valley Medical Group in Greenfield. In addition to practicing full-scope family medicine, she also serves as the medical director for the Franklin County House of Correction and the Pioneer Valley Regional School District, and is chairwoman of the Healthcare Solutions Committee of the Opioid Task Force of Franklin County.
