Police logs, Feb. 3 to 6, 2017

Greenfield, Feb. 3

1:52 a.m. — Police stopped the driver of a red 2005 Subaru Impreza near the intersection of Elm and Allen streets after observing he failed to stop at a previous intersection. The traffic stop led to the arrest of Anthony Hickson, 29, of Springfield, on a warrant. His charges include possession of a Class B drug and possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug, both subsequent offenses.

10:14 a.m. — A caller at Ryan & Casey Liquors, located at 55 Main St., reported a shoplifter. The caller said the shoplifter was a white male with dark brown hair, in his 20s, wearing a blue, green and white winter hat and a green Snow & Sons Landscaping jacket. The store’s surveillance footage showed the man putting a bottle, possibly a bottle of Jose Cuervo tequila, under his shirt and walking out of the store.

2:32 p.m. — A caller at Green River Park, located at 22 Petty Plain Road, found two keys with squiggly white plastic attached to them.

Greenfield, Feb. 4

1:24 a.m. — A caller at Greenfield Gardens Apartments, located at 8 Forbes Court, reported someone kicked an apartment door in and was punching the person who lives there in the face. Massachusetts State Police were contacted to assist. The incident resulted in the arrest of Andre Morris, 26, of Greenfield, on charges of burglary, armed assault, vandalizing property, assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of intimidating a witness, threatening to commit a crime and conspiracy.

12:55 p.m. — An accident between a blue 2013 Ford Fiesta and a gray 2004 Nissan Sentra occurred at the railroad bridge near the intersection of Cheapside and Deerfield streets. The Fire Department responded, though emergency medical services were canceled.

Montague, Feb. 4

9:55 a.m. — Someone called to report a suspicious car with New Jersey plates parked in an empty lot on Sherman Drive. Police discovered it was an Enterprise Rent-A-Car vehicle. An Enterprise attendant at the Greenfield location looked up the vehicle and said it hasn’t had updated movement since October. The property owner agreed to wait till Monday to give the car’s driver a chance to move it.

4:39 p.m. — Someone called police concerned about two young males who the caller said were playing chicken with oncoming traffic at Third and L streets. The caller said they appeared to be about 11 or 12 years old. Police interviewed the kids who said they were playing football.

Greenfield, Feb. 5

11:00 p.m. — A deer was struck by a vehicle on Leyden Road. The driver reported the deer was still in the roadway. Significant damage to front bumper and right side of driver’s Chevy Tahoe. Police called, deer removed from roadway.

Greenfield, Feb. 6

12:40 a.m. — Police stopped a gray 2003 Chevy Malibu on Elm Street. Eduard Vartanyan, 55, of 28 Alden St., Greenfield, was arrested on charges of operating under the influence, marked lanes violation, and driving with a revoked license on Elm Street.
