Police Logs, Sept. 2 to Sept. 4, 2017

Greenfield, Sept. 2

11:19 a.m. — Police retrieved a bundle of heroin labeled “Iron Man 2” from the parking lot at the People’s United Bank on Federal Street. The person who found it, first saw it the previous day when visiting the ATM. Not wanting to touch it, he buried it under wood chips and then alerted police.

11:46 a.m. — Police arrested Peter J. Sheridan, 67, of Newell Pond Road in Greenfield, on charges of assault and battery on a 60-plus person who is disabled with an injury. Sheridan was involved in a fight on Main Street that a caller reported to police, telling them that one man appeared to be an aggressor and the other was laying on the ground, bleeding from his face.

4:23 p.m. — MedCare assisted with a potential overdose at the Winslow Building on Wells Street. The person was taken to the hospital. The call was originally taken by police. 

Greenfield, Sept. 4

1:36 a.m. — Police arrested Patrick C. Powell, 26, of East Colrain Road in Colrain on a warrant. The arrested was conducted at the Franklin Recovery Center on Federal Street after a caller said Powell was discharged for disruptive behavior and then began to make threats through a call button that he would “kick the recovery specialist’s butt,” according to the police logs.

2:08 a.m. — Police arrested Joseph D. Atherton, 23, of Fargo Drive in Greenfield on a warrant arrest, after pulling him over on Federal and Lincoln streets with a suspended license.
