GREENFIELD – The culminating event of the annual Poet’s Seat Poetry Contest will be held Tuesday at the Geissler Gallery at Stoneleigh Burnham School.

The event, during which finalists will read their winning submissions from the three contest categories, will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

As part of the contest, which is open to Franklin County residents and students ages 12 to 18 who attend school in Franklin County, entrants may submit up to three poems.

As in past years, the contest included adult and youth categories, with the youth category being split between two age divisions: 12 to 14 years old and 15 to 18 years old. Two winners are selected for each youth subcategory – though they are not ranked – and adult category entrants can receive prizes for first, second or third place.

The adult first-prize winner will receive stewardship of the Poet’s Seat chair until the next adult first-place winner is announced the following year.

The winner’s name will be engraved on the chair’s plaque, along with the previous winners’ names.

Other prizes will be awarded in each category.
