ORANGE — Town police and Ralph C. Mahar Regional School’s administration are investigating a reported threat made against the school, though they do not believe students or staff are in any danger.
According to a letter drafted by Principal Scott A. Hemlin, a parent informed school officials this morning of a threat made on the social media app Snapchat. The Orange Police Department was notified and steps were immediately taken to ensure the safety of everyone on school grounds, Hemlin wrote. The daily school schedule was not interrupted.
“Please know that the safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance,” Hemlin’s letter reads. “Incidents such as this are taken very seriously. In order to maintain the safest school environment possible, it is imperative to have the mindset of ‘see something, say something.’”
Hemlin thanked the unnamed person who reported the threat and the Orange Police Department for its continued work to protect the Mahar school community.
