Letters: Feeding our neighbors

Tuesday, March 01, 2016

We at the Franklin County Community Meals Program want to thank the community for the outpouring of support for our brown bag initiative which distributes bagged lunches at our Wednesday evening meals held at the Second Congregational Church in Greenfield. More than 100 families provided more than 1,100 bagged lunches at our recent collection on Feb. 21 as noted in The Recorder on Feb. 22. The “Brown Bag Brigade” as we’ve come to think of it is the brainchild of long-time FCCMP volunteer Emily Whitney. We acknowledge Emily’s ingenuity in creating this initial event and the generosity of the community in its response to it. Alleviating hunger in Franklin County and the North Quabbin area is the mission of FCCMP and with your help we’re working to fulfill that mission.

The next Brown Bag Brigade collection will take place in June. For more information, please check our website www.fccmp.org.

Neighbors nourishing neighbors. That is what FCCMP has been doing for more than 30 years. With the help of the community, that’s what we continue to do.
