SHELBURNE — One person was airlifted with unknown injuries after a trike-style motorcycle struck the back of a silver SUV on Route 2 (Mohawk Trail) near Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters on Thursday afternoon.

Shelburne Police and Fire departments, American Medical Response (AMR) and Massachusetts State Police troopers responded to the accident at approximately 12:09 p.m., according to Shelburne Fire Chief John Taylor.

“Witnesses said the motorcycle appeared to rear-end a car,” Taylor said.

He added he had “no patient information at all” and that only one person was transported for treatment.

“There was a LifeFlight … unknown ultimate destination,” Taylor said. “No other people were transported.”

There was a “small detour” going around the East Cemetery, Taylor said. Speaking at around 1:30 p.m., he expected the scene to be cleared in “another hour.”

State Police troopers are investigating the crash.
