GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Police Department and Massachusetts State Police investigated for “several hours” after responding to an unattended death in the area of Federal and Pierce streets on Sunday morning, according to Laurie Loisel, spokesperson for the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.

Police responded to reports of the death at 11:20 a.m., Loisel said. The deceased individual was found in a red vehicle that Greenfield Police covered with barriers during its investigation. At the time, the Greenfield Police Department posted to its Facebook page that “preliminary investigation suggests that there is no danger to the public.”

At this time, the death is not considered suspicious and no foul play is suspected, according to Loisel.
