An O’Reilly Auto Parts store has opened to bring area consumers a new option for their automotive needs.

The 7,100-square-foot facility at 561 East Main St., near the Wal-Mart Supercenter, will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.

Mark Merz, the publicly traded company’s director of external reporting and investor relations, said O’Reilly stores generally employ eight to 10 people in a mix of part-time and full-time positions. Larry Thibeault is the store manager in Orange.

Merz said the company opted for the East Main Street space following an extensive site location analysis that examined area towns’ populations, projected growth, number of registered vehicles and number of automotive professionals. He said the spot was also appealing due to its proximity to an O’Reilly distribution center in Devens.

“Our team members and our customers are the most important thing to us,” Merz said. “We are very, very excited about opening this location.”

O’Reilly Auto Parts started in Springfield, Mo., in 1957, where the company’s headquarters is located. It went public in April 1993. As of March 31, there were 4,623 stores across 44 states.
