Fire Department auctioning vintage military Chevy

NEW SALEM — The New Salem Fire Department is auctioning off a vintage 1986 Chevrolet 4x4 military surplus (CD-30903) HD truck, with a service body. It is an online auction that is open to the public at municibid.com. It ends Monday, Nov. 13.

Proceeds from this auction will go to the Fire Department to buy new water hoses, another vehicle, helmets and other essentials it needs.

The Chevrolet runs and drives and has 25,740 miles on it. It was taken out of service earlier this year after being replaced with a new vehicle and was stored inside until recently. It was initially used as a brush truck after acquisition in 2002. It was converted to a light rescue vehicle in 2010.
