Sarah Clay & the StarCats to perform at 1794 Meetinghouse on Saturday

NEW SALEM — Sarah Clay & the StarCats will perform a concert of retro-pop, swing, blues and Latin jazz at the 1794 Meetinghouse at 26 South Main St. on Saturday.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for anyone 13 to 17 years old. Children under 12 is free.

The StarCats are an award-winning trio that has performed at the Northampton Jazz Festival, the Pittsfield City Jazz Festival, Litchfield (Connecticut) Sunrise Concerts and Summer on Strong Ave in Northampton. The repertoire intertwines jazz standards, Latin jazz and pop songs from the likes of Soundgarden, Sara Bareilles, Joni Mitchell, Electric Light Orchestra and Stevie Wonder.

Sarah Clay is a performer and vocal coach from Florence. Draa Hobbs, the group’s northernmost member from Grafton, Vermont, is a jazz guitar instructor and performer, and Steven Bulmer, the group’s southernmost member from Cromwell, Connecticut, performs on string bass, electric bass and tuba. He is also on the jazz faculty at the University of Connecticut.

Village Neighbors-sponsored cribbage coming soon

WENDELL — Village Neighbors-sponsored cribbage is slated for 2:30 p.m. in the outdoor pavilion at the Wendell Country Store/Deja Brew Café & Pub on Mondays, July 10 and 24.
