Transfer Station stickers available

NEW SALEM — Transfer Station stickers for 2023 will be available at the station, 20 Blueberry Hill Road, on Wednesdays starting Jan. 11.

Stickers are $25 for 10. Residents must have a new sticker by Jan. 28 to use the Transfer Station. Contact the Board of Health at nsboardofhealth@gmail.com for more information.

‘Bonding with Books’ program held once a month

NEW SALEM — “Bonding with Books,” a parent-and-child program, meets once a month at the New Salem Public Library, located at 23 South Main St.

The program starts at 10 a.m. on Feb. 6, March 13, and April 10. Register at bit.ly/3WXMQVA.

Tax bills mailed

NEW SALEM — The third- and fourth-quarter fiscal year 2023 real estate and personal property tax bills were mailed on Dec. 31, 2022.

Bills for the third-quarter are due Feb. 1. Fourth-quarter bills are due May 1.

Questions regarding the assessed value of your property, abatements/exemptions or address/owner changes should be directed to the Assessors’ Offices at 978-544-5814 or newsalemassessor@outlook.com. Assessment information and abatement forms can be found at newsalemma.org/assessors.

Free COVID-19 tests available

NEW SALEM — Free COVID-19 rapid at-home testing kits, as well as masks and gloves, are available at the Board of Health Office in the Stowell Building, located at 19 South Main St., through Wednesday, Jan. 11.

They can be picked up from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 11.

Quabbin Visitor Center offering free remote programs this winter

The Quabbin Visitor Center is offering free programs over Zoom this winter.

The first is “Myths and Mysteries of the Quabbin Reservoir and the Ware River Watershed” on Sunday, Jan. 29, from 2 to 3 p.m.
