Volunteers planting trees

NORTHFIELD — Volunteers will meet behind Town Hall at 69 Main St. starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, to plant five new evergreens to enhance the area behind the historic town fountain to the left of Town Hall. They will also plant two flowering trees and shrubs at the site of the veterans’ memorial to the right of Town Hall.

Additional tree plantings along Main Street are also possible. Volunteers are advised to bring their own gloves and shovels, and wear sturdy shoes. Children are welcome with supervision.

The initial planting at Town Hall should take two to three hours. A supplemental planting on Main Street would add two to three hours to the work.

Quilts on display Nov. 16

BERNARDSTON — The Bernardston Senior Center will host a quilt show, highlighting the work of its quilting group members, on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 12:30 p.m.

Travel Club plans two November trips

The Travel Club offered by the Bernardston and Northfield senior centers will take a trip to Yankee Candle in South Deerfield and Pete’s Seafood in Greenfield on Friday, Nov. 17, with pickup at 9:30 a.m.

Additionally, a trip to Walmart in Orange and for lunch will be offered on Monday, Nov. 20, with pickup at 9 a.m.

Sign-ups are limited to six people from each town. There will be a waitlist in case one town has spaces open up. The cost is $6 roundtrip and participants will meet at the Bernardston Senior Center. Alternatively, pickup at home is available.

Pie orders due Nov. 18

NORTHFIELD — St. Patrick’s Church at 80 Main St. is holding a to-go pie sale, with pickup available on Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Pies are available in apple and pumpkin varieties. They are 9 inches in diameter and cost $15 each.

Orders must be placed by Saturday, Nov. 18, by calling Kelly at 413-824-6123.
