Community lunch on tap for June 12

LEYDEN — This month’s community lunch at Leyden Town Hall will be held Wednesday, June 12, at noon. There will not be a speaker.

The menu consists of make-your-own sandwiches with a variety of meats and cheeses. Cookies will be available for dessert.

Trio of art workshops begins June 15

LEYDEN — The first in a series of three summer art workshops will take place on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to noon at Leyden Town Hall.

The first topic is the blotted line technique where participants will draw, print and then watercolor their subjects. All materials are included.

Premier Brass Quintet concert coupled with Evening Cafe

BERNARDSTON — The Bernardston Senior Center will host music by the Premier Brass Quintet followed by an Evening Cafe on Monday, June 17. Music begins at 3 p.m. and food will be served at 4 p.m.

Music will include swing, Broadway classics, ragtime and modern hits, while the meal will consist of chicken and rice bake, Italian green beans, dinner rolls and brownies.

A donation of $3.50 is suggested and reservations are required by June 12 by calling 413-648-5319. A Zoom link will also be available for the concert.

NORTHFIELD — Those interested in participating in the Northfield Senior Center’s Men’s Breakfast Social on Tuesday, June 18, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. must register by Thursday, June 13, by calling 413-498-2901, ext. 123. There is a suggested donation of $5.

DVAA artist leading activity at Senior Center

BERNARDSTON — Robert “Bucky” Callery from the Deerfield Valley Art Association will lead an activity at the Bernardston Senior Center on Friday, June 14, at 10 a.m.

This activity entails piecing pre-cut wood together, securing the pieces with a non-toxic adhesive and adding vibrant colors through painting. A $5 fee offsets the cost of the program. Most supplies will be available.

Three-session watercolor journaling class starts June 18

BERNARDSTON — Participants are invited to explore the world of watercolor and self-expression in the “Heart to Art Watercolor Journaling” series at the Bernardston Senior Center on June 18, June 25 and July 9, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

The program blends basic watercolor techniques with journaling prompts to spark creativity and introspection. By attending all three sessions, participants will develop a deeper understanding of the symbolic meanings behind lines and colors.

Class size is limited to 12. The cost of supplies, which participants will get to keep, is $20 and includes a watercolor journal along with a watercolor kit featuring a water brush/brushes. Sign up by calling 413-648-5413.

Biweekly ‘Coffee and History’ programs planned

LEYDEN — The town’s “Coffee and History” programs are back, with the next event planned for Sunday, June 23, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the historical display in the Town Offices at 7 Brattleboro Road.

Residents can expect these programs on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.

June 24: ‘Songs and Stories of Appalachia’

NORTHFIELD — The Northfield Senior Center will present “Songs and Stories of Appalachia” on Monday, June 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The musical event, sponsored in part by the Council on Aging and the Cultural Council, will feature Michael and Carrie Kline on vocals and guitars, Joe Blumenthal on upright bass and Jim Armenti on mandolin.

Main Street walk planned for June 24

NORTHFIELD — The next Happy Feet walking group outing will be Monday, June 24, at 10 a.m. Participants will leave from the Northfield Senior Center for a walk along Main Street.

June 24: Elder law talk

BERNARDSTON — Attorney Sarah Dolven will give a talk on elder law at the Bernardston Senior Center on Monday, June 24, at 3 p.m.

Topics include health care proxies, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) releases, powers of attorney, guardianships and conservatorships, wills and trusts, probate, and gift and estate taxes. The program is sponsored by the Massachusetts Bar Association. A Zoom link will also be available.

Northfield Senior Center hosting lawn games

NORTHFIELD — The Northfield Senior Center will host an afternoon of lawn games (such as croquet, bocce ball and cornhole) on Tuesday, June 25, at 1:30 p.m. Lemonade will be available.

RSVP for Memory Cafe by June 20

NORTHFIELD — Singer and guitarist Dave Herrera, owner of BowTie Studios, will lead an activity or entertainment during the Northfield Senior Center’s monthly Memory Cafe on Wednesday, June 26, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

This program provides support and socialization for adults dealing with memory-related issues and their caregivers. A light lunch will be provided.

Beef pot roast meal set for June 27

BERNARDSTON — The Bernardston Senior Center will serve beef pot roast with gravy, Italian roasted potatoes, vegetables and peaches on Thursday, June 27, at 11:45 a.m.
