Gardeners to gather Saturday

WARWICK — The Warwick Winter Gardener’s Gathering will be held Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Warwick Free Public Library.

Winery hosting Trivia Night

NORTHFIELD — Trivia Night will be held at Cameron’s Winery on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Bring a team of up to six, or find new friends at the event. The game will include three rounds of 10 questions.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Color The Beatles at Thursday event

BERNARDSTON — Cushman Library invites anyone ages 12 and up to its “Colouring The Beatles” event on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Coloring books to work with will include Crayola’s “Coloring Songbook,” “Lyrics of John Lennon & Paul McCartney” and “The Yellow Submarine Colouring Book.”

Senator continues library tour

WARWICK — As part of her “People’s Office Library Tour,” Sen. Jo Comerford, D-Northampton, will visit the Warwick Free Public Library on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 11 a.m. to noon. Comerford plans to speak briefly before engaging in discussions.

Pioneer improves, updates technology

NORTHFIELD — Pioneer Valley Regional School is aiming to improve computer network security and usability.

New firewalls were purchased and installed, Superintendent Jonathan Scagel reported during the Jan. 9 School Committee meeting. The district is also looking to update teachers’ devices and audiovisual (AV) systems.

Along with updated devices for staff, additional Chromebooks will be made accessible to students, Scagel said. The district is looking at an approximate 20 percent increase in student devices across the district this year.

Northfield Elementary gets sensory hallway

NORTHFIELD — A sensory hallway was installed at the Northfield Elementary School over the winter break, just a few months after the installation of one at Bernardston Elementary School.

Northfield Elementary staff worked to lay down the decals for the hallway, Superintendent Jonathan Scagel said during a Jan. 9 School Committee meeting.

The hallway is intended to provide a strategic and intentional movement opportunities for students in a playful setting. The required movements will help develop motor skills, such as balance, hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
