NORTHFIELD — The Friends of Schell Bridge will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 9:30 a.m. at The Brewery at Four Star Farms, located at 508 Pine Meadow Road.
Sen. Jo Comerford, D-Northampton, will field questions and share ideas about how to move forward with replacing the Schell Bridge, which has been closed since 1985 because it deteriorated beyond being safe to use.
Coffee and refreshments will be served. The public is welcome.
NORTHFIELD — The “Happy Feet” walking group will hold two walks this month.
On Monday, Dec. 12, at 10:30 a.m., walkers are invited to meet at the trailhead on Birnam Road. Dogs on leashes are welcome.
On Monday, Dec. 19 at 10:30 a.m., walkers can meet at the Senior Center for an intergenerational activity with Northfield Elementary School’s kindergarten class. Participants will walk up Main Street to the school, meet the students and return with them to the Senior Center for snacks and an activity making luminaries. Seniors with a walker or wheelchair are encouraged to attend, but no dogs are allowed in the Senior Center.
In the event of steady rain, sleet or ice, the Happy Feet walks will be canceled.
BERNARDSTON — Franklin County Technical School cosmetology students will offer nail painting and hand massages at the Bernardston Senior Center on Thursday, Dec. 22, from 9 to 11 a.m.
NORTHFIELD — The Northfield Senior Center will offer a choice of Crockpot soups on Thursday, Dec. 15, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Guests can pick either salmon chowder or taco bean/pork soup. According to a Senior Center newsletter, each meal is served with garden salad, crackers or chips, a beverage and dessert. A $5 donation is suggested.
Seating is limited to 20 attendees. Seats must be reserved by calling the Senior Center at 413-498-2901, ext. 114 or by emailing seniorcenter@northfieldma.gov by Monday, Dec. 12, at 3 p.m.
