SHELBURNE FALLS — No serious injuries resulted from a three-vehicle crash that closed Route 2 at the intersection with State Street for about 15 minutes on Wednesday afternoon, according to Shelburne Police Sgt. Kurt Gilmore.

The crash occurred shortly before 5 p.m. According to Gilmore, a white Honda CRV was traveling westbound along Route 2 when it was rear-ended by a gray Toyota Camry as it stopped to turn left onto State Street. This impact pushed the Honda into a white Ford Transit van that was headed east on Route 2.

The Honda, occupied by one woman, had its airbags deploy and sustained heavy front and rear-end damage. The Toyota was also occupied by one woman, had its airbags deploy and received heavy front-end damage. The Ford, occupied by two men, received moderate damage to its side. All three vehicles were towed.

Gilmore said all occupants were able to get out of their vehicles safely prior to the arrival of emergency responders. Only minor injuries, including bumps, bruises and scratches, occurred. All involved individuals declined transport to the hospital.

Responding agencies included the Shelburne Police Department and Shelburne Falls Fire District EMS.

Route 2 was closed to both lanes of traffic as emergency personnel worked until around 5 p.m., at which point the scene was clear enough to reopen to one lane of traffic. Both lanes of traffic reopened at around 5:15 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation, Gilmore said. No charges have been filed.
