MONTAGUE CENTER — A man was arrested Sunday afternoon following a two-vehicle collision that resulted in a rollover at the intersection of Routes 47 and 63.

Emergency personnel responded to reports of a vehicle rollover at around 4:20 p.m. Upon arrival, responders assisted the driver of a green Toyota Corolla out of the vehicle. Although the car had flipped upside-down and was heavily damaged on the passenger side, the sole occupant reported no injuries and declined to be taken to a hospital, according to Montague Center Fire Chief David Hansen.

Meanwhile, the sole occupant of the other involved vehicle, a black Honda Civic, also reported no injuries, Hansen said. He was able to exit the vehicle unassisted and was arrested. Police on scene declined to comment further on the reason for the arrest.

Both the Toyota and the Honda, which sustained moderate front-end damage, were towed by Rau’s Sunoco Service. Responding agencies included the Montague Center, Turners Falls and Amherst fire departments, as well as the Montague Police Department. The collision remains under investigation.

Vehicles approaching the intersection of Routes 47 and 63 were turned around as personnel cleared the scene. The road had reopened by 6 p.m.
