SOUTH DEERFIELD — A new salon in the town center aims to follow its namesake by lifting women’s spirits.
Elevate Salon Studio, at 4A Sugarloaf St., is a new wellness center, salon and clothing shop dedicated to building community and providing a variety of services with women’s wellness in mind. The business is owned by Deerfield native Marcia Hawkins and managed by longtime friend Karen Woodcock.
Having already held a soft opening, Elevate is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. A grand opening will be held on Thursday, May 4.
Woodcock said their goal is to take a “more holistic approach to wellness” by offering a wide range of products for customers, including hair styling, makeup, teeth whitening and consigned clothing, alongside their key product: cryo slimming and facials.
“It’s a little more than a hair salon. … We’re trying to have an atmosphere with zen,” Woodcock said, adding the business is about “women supporting women and taking care of each other.”
Highlighting their cryo treatments, Woodcock explained the process is similar to an ultrasound massage, as it’s a “non-invasive” process that involves warming up and then cooling down fat cells to break them down. She said that process, once their machine arrives, will be their “focus,” however their other services will bring more foot traffic into the store.
In the name of building community, Elevate is looking to bring in independent hair stylists and makeup artists to supplement its own business. The salon features the main room, with hairdressing chairs and the clothing selections, along with a changing room and separate area for makeup and cryo treatments. Woodcock described it as a “perfect little setup” for their business.
For clothing, Elevate’s main product is resold women’s clothes. Woodcock described it as a sort of consignment clothing model, however, the salon will be purchasing the clothing straight up, rather than giving the original owner the sale profits as is the case with a typical consignment shop. Alongside clothing, shoes and other accessories will also be available.

The salon has also partnered with other local businesses as it conducts a giveaway promotion to celebrate its opening.
“Everybody’s been so great,” Woodcock added. “It’s a great little downtown area, so we’re real happy to be here.”
