Carnegie Public Library hosting used book sale

TURNERS FALLS — Carnegie Public Library will host a used book sale on Saturday, July 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Stock includes books, audiobooks, CDs and DVDs. Proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Montague Public Libraries.

Montague Center to have bonfire July 3

MONTAGUE CENTER — The Montague Center Firefighters Association is sponsoring a bonfire on Sunday, July 3, at dusk at the Montague Center baseball field. There will be food available. Those looking to attend are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.

Police Department seeking dispatcher

MONTAGUE — The Police Department is accepting applications for a full-time emergency dispatcher. Duties include responding to 911 and non-emergency phone calls requesting assistance; obtaining and relaying pertinent information in a concise manner to officers in the field; and using Computer-Aided Dispatch to document responses.

Applicants should have strong multi-tasking skills, strong communication and customer service skills, and an ability to work in fast-paced, stressful situations. Applicants must pass an in-depth background check.

Experience is preferred, but the department will train the right person. Interested candidates can apply by July 15 at the Montague Public Safety Complex.

‘Dear Treefrog’ StoryWalk comes to Discovery Center

TURNERS FALLS — Joyce Sidman’s children’s book, “Dear Treefrog,” will be available for kids to enjoy via a StoryWalk at the Great Falls Discovery Center, located at 2 Avenue A, through Aug. 2.

Kidleidoscope Story Hour teaching wildlife lessons

TURNERS FALLS — Children ages 3 to 6, accompanied by an adult, are invited to learn about watershed wildlife through a story, activities and crafts at the Great Falls Discovery Center at 2 Avenue A.

Activities will be both indoors and outdoors on July 15, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The session will focus on frogs.
