Montague Police Logs: July 25 to Aug. 6, 2020

Montague, July 25

12:19 a.m. — Ashley B. Arthur, 33, of Third Street in Turners Falls, was arrested for assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, breaking and entering into a building at nighttime for a felony and threatening to commit a crime (murder). Released on personal recognizance. Police say the victim recorded the assault on his cellphone that shows Arthur breaking through the victim’s bedroom door, splintering it and then opening it by reaching inside and unlocking it before entering the room, yelling she would kill the man and demanding he leave, repeatedly calling him a child molester. She then reportedly picked up a piece of the broken door and struck the victim with it before being stopped by her husband, the logs state.

5:33 a.m. — A Fourth Street caller states there is what looks like drug paraphernalia on the steps of his building. States there is a spoon, white powder and baggies on the step. Officer Joshua Dobosz collected some items and is bringing them to station to dispose of properly.

8:54 a.m. — Caller at Turners Falls Municipal Airport requesting to speak with an officer about a man that was trespassing and taking pictures of the security system. The man reportedly said he intended to come back. Advised of options.

Montague, July 28

1:16 p.m. — Caller states there are two needles on the ground on the corner of O Street and Paradise Parkway. Items retrieved.

Montague, July 30

2:43 p.m. — Report of a man inside the Family Dollar on Avenue A that used a butane lighter the store sells to light the corner of a box on fire. Fire is out. Caller reports person seems to be under the influence.

Montague, Aug. 3

1:21 p.m. — Caller states that while biking down Millers Falls Road, someone threw a firecracker out a car window at him and it blew up near him. He was not injured, just scared by it. Only description of vehicle is a black sedan.

Montague, Aug. 4

3:55 p.m. —Driver reporting he hit part of the Turners Falls-Gill Bridge with the tractor-trailer unit he is driving. There is some damage to the bridge and trailer. Gill Police will take accident report.

Montague, Aug. 5

2:19 a.m. — Caller states he just saw something hovering over town center with red and green lights flashing. Stated it doesn’t look like a drone; seems too big. Believes it is in the area between Route 63 and Airport Road. Detective Peter Lapachinski advised.

5:10 p.m. — Report of a goose with a fishing lure stuck in its side and a piece of fishing line wrapped around its foot. Goose is across the street from the blue shed near the community garden. Environmental Police advised. Sgt. John Dempsey advised. Dempsey reports that the goose went into the water and does not want to come back on land. Environmental Police to keep an eye on it and possibly attempt to rescue it with a boat.

7:20 p.m. — Jordan Register, 20, of Chapman Street in Greenfield, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
