Montague Police Logs: Sept. 25 to Oct. 4, 2023

Monday, Sept. 25

6:49 p.m. — Caller from Industrial Boulevard was helping a friend change a flat tire and locked his keys in the vehicle. Police found the vehicle owner’s driver’s licenses in both Massachusetts and South Carolina were suspended. Owner got a ride home.

Tuesday, Sept. 26

8:38 a.m. — Caller from Marshall Street reports someone he didn’t know ran into his house before speaking with his wife outside. Police advised that an SUV had crashed into the front porch, requested EMS and the Fire Department. Rau’s Sunoco Service towed the vehicle.

5:34 p.m. — Caller from Fourth Street reports while she was at the courthouse getting an abuse prevention order on her ex-boyfriend, he went into her apartment through a gap where an air conditioner had been. He allegedly took a TV and a vacuum. Caller states her cousin just saw him walking in Turners Falls with the items.

Wednesday, Sept. 27

3:47 p.m. — Caller from Avenue A reports being attacked by an older male. He said he did not need an ambulance, but that he was pushed to the ground and punched in the face. The situation occurred in school, so the caller was advised to speak with School Resource Officer Dan Miner. Police spoke with the caller’s father, who declined a report.

9:13 p.m. — Multiple callers reporting a male party is trying to break into an apartment and making threatening statements. Three females were uncooperative and unwilling to give statements. Police arrested the male party.

Thursday, Sept. 28

1:39 a.m. — Caller at Avenue A and Fourth Street states when she got in her vehicle and started driving, she noticed something was wrong with her wheels. She got out of her vehicle and discovered all of her tires had been slashed with a knife. She located a steak knife in front of the door and took a photo of it. She said she knew someone who may have done it and filled out a written statement.

7:51 p.m. — Caller from Turners Falls Road located about 25 grams of cocaine on his property. Police seized the drugs.

Friday, Sept. 29

1:51 a.m. — Employee from Nouria on Third Street reports multiple people are outside the building with masks and flashlights. He confronted them and they did not reply to his questions. He asked them to leave the property, but they did not comply. Police located two individuals, who were filming at the location and were believed to be “First Amendment auditors.” Police asked if they needed any assistance or help but received no response. The employee was advised to ignore them at this time. The clerk then confronted them again following the police interaction.

Police spoke to the male party who denied a knife being involved, but was open about a woman picking up drugs from him and coming back looking for more drugs or money. She reportedly did not have a ride home and was upset.

Saturday, Sept. 30

6:00 p.m. — Caller from Park Street reports seeing a woman and two children walk into her backyard on her Ring camera. Nothing was missing, but she wanted it on record.

Sunday, Oct. 1

5:35 p.m. — Caller from Wentworth Congregate Housing on J Street reports a fight between two residents in the hallway. Police found it to be a verbal argument between two male parties.

5:56 p.m. — Caller from J Street reports two women are looking into vehicles in the parking lot. They left when the caller approached them. Caller then called back to report the two women had returned and were running around the parking lot and adjacent church parking lot.

Monday, Oct. 2

2:52 p.m. — Caller from Sherman Drive reports a male party set a fire in his yard and left it. Since then, there had been heavy smoke and burning that did not smell like wood.

5:47 p.m. — Caller from Crocker Avenue reports two men are walking around the area and knocking on doors. They were driving a truck registered in New York.

Tuesday, Oct. 3

12:45 a.m. — Police had the driver of a vehicle allude them and two parties then fled on foot in the area of First Street and Avenue A. They detained the vehicle’s passenger before searching for the driver, who was running down First Street. Rau’s Sunoco Service towed the vehicle.

3:26 p.m. — Caller from the Carnegie Public Library on Avenue A reports being punched in the face by a woman who took off. A second caller reported the assault from the front of the library. The victim was given a form to fill out and bring back to the station.

Wednesday, Oct. 4

10:38 a.m. — Walk-in reports a two-car collision at the intersection outside the Public Safety Complex. There were no injuries or fluids on the road, but both vehicles were towed by Rau’s Sunoco Service.

5:50 p.m. — Caller from Central Street reports three people are assaulting her son. He was bleeding, but she declined an ambulance. Parties dispersed upon police arrival, but the victim filled out a statement.
