Montague Police Logs: Sept. 12 to Sept. 24, 2023

Tuesday, Sept. 12

8:38 a.m. — Multiple 911 callers from N Street report a couple of big dogs are attacking a small dog.

9:45 p.m. — Caller from Town Hall reports a male party is standing in the middle of the road and screaming. Police checked the area and found nothing.

Wednesday, Sept. 13

7:34 p.m. — Walk-in from Dunton Street reports not hearing from his 24-year-old son since seeing him at 7 a.m. The vehicle he had access to was still at the house, but his overnight bag was missing. Caller tried contacting his son, but calls would go straight to voicemail. History of drug use and mental health issues. Be-on-the-lookout order issued. Individual was entered into the National Crime Information Center.

9:01 p.m. — Caller from East Main Street reports two males are fighting outside. Police attempted to speak with a few people at the scene and nobody wanted to report anything.

Thursday, Sept. 14

8:20 a.m. — Caller reports being assaulted at Miller’s Pub the night before.

6:25 p.m. — Shelburne Control reported that a 911 caller from Bridge Street hung up after reporting that somebody was stomping around and putting a cooler in front of the door to block it. Police spoke to tenants of the building, who said the involved male party causes a lot of issues in the building and that the landlord had been trying to kick them out.

Friday, Sept. 15

7:10 a.m. — Caller requests to speak with an officer about an assault that occurred at Millers Pub on East Main Street two nights prior.

12:15 p.m. — Caller from West Chestnut Hill Road reports two German shepards are running loose and chasing after a deer. Owners are unknown. Information was given to the animal control officer.

Saturday, Sept. 16

9:43 p.m. — Caller from Montague City Road reports hearing loud music and instruments while she is trying to sleep. She then called back to say the noise ceased.

11:38 p.m. — Caller from Randall Road reports a loud party at a neighbor’s house. Police located the small gathering and told attendees to quiet down.

Sunday, Sept. 17

1:44 p.m. — Caller from L Street reports a woman banging on the door of a neighbor’s apartment, screaming to “let her in.” Police found this was not as reported. The door handle to the apartment was broken and the resident was knocking to be let inside.

5:44 p.m. — Caller from Dry Hill Road reports hearing two gunshots 10 minutes prior, five minutes apart from each other. He had never heard them so close to the house and was nervous.

Monday, Sept. 18

2:53 p.m. — Montague Housing Authority employee reports graffiti in a stairwell at the Keith Apartments on Canal Street.

3:13 p.m. — Caller from the alley at K and L streets reports that her car was backed into and a note was left with a phone number. She believed it to be somebody who was previously threatening her. She asked police to come assess the damages.

Tuesday, Sept. 19

9:34 a.m. — Caller from Unity Park reports a white van in the area that seemed suspicious and made her uncomfortable. Male parties were sitting in the van as people drove up. Visitors left after talking for five minutes. Police, who were in the area, watched before approaching the van. Driver said she was doing yoga and just sitting in her car.

11:58 p.m. — Police witnessed a vehicle hit a pole and split it in half on Turners Falls Road. A male exited the vehicle. State Police responded. No wires were down. Rau’s Sunoco Service was called to tow the vehicle and Eversource responded to replace the pole.

Wednesday, Sept. 20

5:57 a.m. — Walk-in states his father told him police were looking for him. He was arrested and the be-on-the-lookout order was canceled. They contacted his mother to pick up the car. Individual was transported to the Franklin County Jail and House of Correction.

2:27 p.m. — Miguel D. Russell III, 24, of Fourth Street in Turners Falls, was arrested on a default warrant at the Post Office. He was later charged with two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, malicious destruction of property over $1,200, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and threatening to commit a crime.

Thursday, Sept. 21

5:20 p.m. — Caller from East Main Street Realty reports two Amazon packages were stolen the day before.

7:45 p.m. — Caller from Millers Pub on East Main Street reports loud noises, vehicles and screaming in the area. All was quiet upon police arrival.

Friday, Sept. 22

10:05 p.m. — Police were out with a couple of men who were acting suspicious across from the Water Department on Turners Falls Road.

11:13 p.m. — Caller from Davis Street reports accidentally backing his vehicle up onto his neighbor’s lawn, causing his neighbor to come outside and yell. Police spoke with both parties and the situation was mediated. Caller had been aggressive toward the neighbor once confronted.

Saturday, Sept. 23

12:33 p.m. — Caller from Power Street reports finding a small plastic cup with some bullets in it near the pedestrian bridge at the corner of the former Railroad Salvage parking lot.

6:51 p.m. — Caller from Newton and Franklin streets reports a female party is poisoning her plants during his family event. A second caller, who was also at the event, said the female party was screaming and throwing wooden boards in their direction. The situation was mediated and the parties agreed to separate.

Sunday, Sept. 24

4:03 p.m. — Caller from N Street reports two dogs are running loose.
