Montague Police Logs: Oct. 7 to Oct. 14, 2024

6:10 a.m. — Caller from East Main Street states the neighbor who lives above her makes lots of loud noises and she believes she does this intentionally. Caller states she would like this on record at this time, declines to speak with an officer.
4:58 p.m. — Reporting party states there is an adult female yelling and fighting with some juveniles at Unity and Central streets. Female got in the middle of a juvenile dispute. All parties separated and cleared the area before officers arrived.
10:10 a.m. — Caller reports a possible domestic disturbance on Turners Falls Road. Disturbance seems to be escalating. Reports he hears multiple people screaming at each other and it’s getting louder. Officer made contact with the homeowner, states she was having a verbal argument with her boyfriend over the phone and does not need assistance.
1:05 p.m. — Reporting party from Third Street states a lot of packages have been stolen off people’s porches lately and she just witnessed two males and a female walk up onto people’s porches, look around, then walk away. They are now at the Nouria gas station. Unable to locate.
11:24 a.m. — Report of a vehicle parked in the parking lot of the Great Falls Discovery Center on Avenue A for more than a week. Referred to an officer.
11:30 a.m. — Caller from Fourth Street reports a young male with a white helmet was riding an electric bike “way too fast” on the sidewalk earlier. No police service necessary.
6:25 p.m. — Caller states some kids are starting to fight on Central Street. Peace restored.
7:41 p.m. — Reporting party on Turners Falls Road states there is a large black bear on her porch looking in the sliding door. She was advised to stay inside and it will move along. She states she had been told that an officer can blow the air horn to move the bear along. While on the phone, she states the bear went over the railing and off the deck.

9:27 p.m. — Jeffrey Robert Snide, 27, of Bray Road in Shelburne Falls, was arrested on Second Street on charges of receiving a stolen motor vehicle, possession of a Class A drug, possession of a Class B drug and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
9:47 a.m. — Shelburne Control Dispatch Center advising of a report of a box truck operating erratically in Leverett heading toward Montague. Unable to locate.
8:36 a.m. — Caller would like it on record that someone spit on her vehicle while it was parked in her assigned space on Fourth Street. No police service necessary.
3:35 p.m. — Reporting party states she went into Montague Town Hall to work and set off the alarm. It is not accepting the code she entered. No emergency. Officer checked location, all set.
10:56 p.m. — Reporting party states there is a male party in Millers Pub making racial slurs at her and if police don’t respond, she is going to “knock him out and take care of it” herself. Officer advises he spoke with the reporting party and mediated the issue.
11:09 p.m. — Caller at Dell and Marshall streets reports hearing people outside, possibly intoxicated, singing “Sweet Caroline.” Caller states she does not know which direction it is coming from but it is very loud. No noise heard upon officer’s arrival.
12:50 a.m. — Shelburne Control Dispatch Center advising they are on the line with someone reporting a vehicle crashed into a garage on South Prospect Street. Reports someone is walking down the road toward Wendell. Involved male was located. Jonathan Kevin Rich, 35, of North Main Street in New Salem, was arrested on charges of OUI-liquor over .08% (second offense), leaving the scene of property damage, a marked lanes violation and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
11:15 a.m. — Walk-in to the station from Montague City Road reports that last night he was having dinner at his son’s and his truck was hit by a vehicle that then took off. Damage to front driver’s side bumper. He will contact the building landlord to see if they have cameras and let police know. Wants the incident on record.
3:53 p.m. — Owner of Rau’s Sunoco Service on Turners Falls Road reports it appears someone attempted to break in. Report taken.
5:10 p.m. — Caller from J Street reporting past breaking and entering. States someone known to him stole his TV and other items. Report taken.
7:28 p.m. — Report of two males fighting (pushing/shoving, older party put younger party in a headlock). Last seen on Bridge Street halfway between Millers Pub and the bridge near the Erving town line. Officers checked the area, unable to locate.
