Montague Police Logs: Oct. 5 to Oct. 15, 2023

Thursday, Oct. 5

3:33 p.m. — Caller from Fourth Street reports his property was broken into. He and his wife put a board over the door two nights ago, he said, but it had been ripped off and the door was broken. Police found nothing was stolen and the door was previously taken.

Friday, Oct. 6

3:32 p.m. — Caller from the alley on Fourth Street reports someone stole her dog, is refusing to give it back and is threatening her.

10:31 p.m. — Caller from Meadow Road reports a disturbance between father and son over a gaming device. The dispute, which was verbal, was mediated and the parties agreed to keep their distance.

Saturday, Oct. 7

10:19 a.m. — Caller from Hatchery Road reports a heron is stuck in a fish net. Environmental Police were notified.

10:11 p.m. — Caller requests an officer due to his tenant at an apartment on Third Street harassing him. Police advised the tenant was having mental health issues.

Sunday, Oct. 8

8:25 a.m. — Caller from the Moltenbrey Property on Avenue A reports a white sedan with a male party inside who was screaming and throwing things at a female outside the vehicle. Police found multiple white sedans in the area, but none seemed to have a male inside who was throwing things.

2:18 p.m. — Caller from Old Sunderland Road reports a car struck a utility pole, backed up and drove away at around 9 p.m. the night before. She later noticed the pole was broken in half and that metal was on the ground. Eversource sent a crew.

Monday, Oct. 9

4:22 p.m. — Caller reports a truck is stuck in the Montague Plains near the high-tension wires. Caller spoke to a woman who had been there with the truck. She explained it had been there since the day before. Environmental Police were advised.

6:49 p.m. — State Police requested that Montague Police check an address on Turners Falls Road for a 17-year-old girl who reportedly ran away with a 31-year-old man in a silver Honda with Vermont license plates. Montague Police found the girl, who was staying at her grandfather’s house after getting into a fight with her mother’s boyfriend.

Tuesday, Oct. 10

5:20 p.m. — Caller from Third Street Laundry reports blood on the floor and a bloody handprint. Police advised it was not blood, but something else sprayed on the floor.

10:48 p.m. — Caller from L Street reports a female party walking and singing in the road.

Wednesday, Oct. 11

1:58 a.m. — Caller on River Road in Deerfield states her boyfriend sustained facial injuries after veering off the road to avoid a deer. Call was transferred to Shelburne Control Dispatch Center.

11:49 a.m. — Caller from Third Street reports her estranged husband sold her car without permission and wouldn’t give her money back after stealing her wallet.

Thursday, Oct. 12

2:21 p.m. — Caller reports people behind the building on Fourth Street are selling drugs. Police checked the area, nothing found.

4:45 p.m. — Montague Police assist State Police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office with training related to safety protocols.

Friday, Oct. 13

7:26 a.m. — Caller from the bike path parking area reports finding a nice old trunk that wasn’t locked, but was closed. She was not comfortable opening it. Police opened it and found nothing.

7:31 p.m. — Police conducted a traffic stop near the Public Safety Complex and charged the driver for driving with a revoked registration, without insurance and with an unregistered trailer. Vehicle was towed by Rau’s Sunoco Service.

Saturday, Oct. 14

3:50 p.m. — Caller from Montague Avenue states his mother was just dropped off at his house with all her belongings. She was not welcome, but refused to leave. The mother then requested an ambulance for a mental health evaluation and back pain. Amherst ambulance took her to Baystate Franklin Medical Center.

5:28 p.m. — Caller reports someone is washing a dog in the car wash on Avenue A. Police found nobody at the car wash.

Sunday, Oct. 15

9:30 a.m. — Caller reports a red Jeep Liberty crashed into a fence, a tree and a street sign on Millers Falls Road. It then turned around and fled toward Millers Falls. Police advised to be on the lookout. The Department of Public Works was notified about the sign being knocked down and broken.

12:59 p.m. — Caller from Whitney Way reports several thousand dollars worth of tools are missing from a residence he is moving out of.
