Montague Police Logs: Oct. 16 to Oct. 29, 2023

Monday, Oct. 16

8:03 a.m. — A Department of Public Works supervisor requests police observe a large amount of property being stored by a homeless individual near the bandshell at Peskeomskut Park. The involved male was not there upon police arrival, but was located at a nearby store. He agreed to move his belongings and was provided with a copy of the town bylaw regarding sleeping in public parks.

11:27 a.m. — Caller from Millers Falls Road and Industrial Boulevard reports three men who are standing on the corner seem suspicious. One had a “sleeve” that looked like it could hold a machete or something similar. Police checked the area and didn’t find anyone. The area checked was also a known bus stop.

Tuesday, Oct. 17

9:44 a.m. — Police arrested Jamie White, 32, of Country Club Road in Greenfield, on a warrant on Sixth Street.

2:30 p.m. — Police arrested Chloe R. O’Malley, 24, of 11th Street in Turners Falls, while patrolling in the area of G and 11th streets. She had a warrant.

Wednesday, Oct. 18

12:27 p.m. — 911 hang-up call from K Street. There was no answer upon callback and the number was traced to two deceased individuals. There was nobody at home, nobody in the driveway and no answer at the door.

1:21 p.m. — Caller from Fourth Street reports her black electric bike was stolen after somebody cut off the lock. She said the bike said “Swagtron” on it.

Thursday, Oct. 19

11:11 a.m. — Caller from Griswold Street reports a man came to his house and tried to sell him something, making him uncomfortable. The man said he had registered with the town, but nothing was on file. Police checked the area and couldn’t find anyone matching the description.

2:37 p.m. — Caller from Avenue A reports setting the fire alarm off while doing a cooking demonstration and it wouldn’t shut off.

Friday, Oct. 20

7:24 a.m. — Caller from Bridge Street reports the upstairs neighbor has been banging and screaming “I’ll kill you” for 15 minutes. Police knocked on doors and windows several times, but were not answered. Caller said this is an ongoing incident, explaining that the male party isn’t yelling at anybody in particular.

10:09 a.m. — School resource officer reports a car spun off the road and struck a tree in front of Franklin County Technical School. He requested an additional officer. He advised that the tire blew out and the driver overcorrected. The driver’s husband came and changed the tire.

Saturday, Oct. 21

2:03 p.m. — A Nouria employee on Third Street reports being assaulted by a customer who was not allowed in the store.

10:55 p.m. — Caller from K Street reports his Chromebook was taken from the front seat of his Volkswagen Beetle. He then said his iPad was stolen and that his phone was indicating it was somewhere in Northfield.

Sunday, Oct. 22

8:38 a.m. — Caller from Old Greenfield Road reports a black car with spiked hubcaps and no visible license plate is speeding up and down the road outside her home. Unable to locate.

11:16 a.m. — A business on Millers Falls Road reports police are allowing someone to park in their private driveway after having mechanical trouble. They weren’t asked if this was OK and they wanted the vehicle moved immediately. Police said the truck was supposed to be moved by that time. Byrne Towing took the vehicle to its impound lot.

Monday, Oct. 23

3:42 p.m. — Caller at Greenfield and Randall roads found a white male dog with a Hatfield tag on his collar on the side of the road. The caller, who worked at the animal shelter, took it in for the night. Hatfield Police were contacted and they picked up the dog after confirming the owner.

8:11 p.m. — Caller at Griswold and Davis streets reports juveniles are driving a go-kart with no headlights at a high rate of speed. Police located them and sent them home.

Tuesday, Oct. 24

9:20 a.m. — Caller at Taylor Heights and Taylor Hill Road reports a large black dog is loose in the area and is being aggressive toward people. Animal control was unable to locate it.

5:01 p.m. — Caller from Turners Falls Road reports a truck is swerving all over the road and struck a sign while heading in the direction of the Public Safety Complex.

Wednesday, Oct. 25

9:59 a.m. — Police arrested Joshua Jablonicky, 42, homeless, on a warrant on Avenue A.

11:02 a.m. — Franklin Regional Transit Authority called 911 from Scotty’s Convenience Store to report a possible fight on the bus. Police provided courtesy transport to Millers Falls.

Thursday, Oct. 26

4:27 p.m. — Caller from Turners Falls Road reports being assaulted by her daughter inside the vehicle before she jumped out and took off. Greenfield Police Department was with the daughter, who had marks on her arms. Caller’s statement was brought to Greenfield Police. Caller declined her options for a protective order.

4:43 p.m. — Caller from Greenfield Road reports three people in a hatchback-style vehicle came to her residence and stated they were going around to area farms to find items in the ground. The caller asked them to leave and they did so without incident.

Friday, Oct. 27

10:22 a.m. — Police arrested Teah M. Golembeski, 31, of South Prospect Street in Montague, on a warrant.

10:09 p.m. — Walk-in from Unity Street reports being assaulted by his girlfriend’s son. He requested EMS after initially declining.

Saturday, Oct. 28

4:10 a.m. — Police arrested Maria Lynn Hague, 32, of Avenue A in Turners Falls, on 10 warrants after reports of her yelling, slamming into walls and causing damage to an apartment.

9:20 a.m. — Police arrested Emma McDonough, 22, of Meadow View Road in Greenfield, on a straight warrant.

2:01 p.m. — Walk-in from Montague City Road reports no one had heard from her adult son since the day before, including his roommates and children. He was not answering his phone and was last seen walking to work at a friend’s house on Mountain Road in Greenfield. Police released a be-on-the-lookout order before eventually locating the man deceased at an address on Mountain Road. (According to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, no foul play is suspected.)

Sunday, Oct. 29

9:21 a.m. — Police arrested Laura A. Brown, 45, of Fourth Street in Turners Falls, after a foot pursuit. She had two warrants. Greenfield Police and their K-9 assisted with the search. Brown was bailed at $100 plus a fee.

9:33 p.m. — Caller from Montague City Road reports a car went over the embankment. The driver, who was uninjured, was able to drive away after the vehicle was pulled out by Rau’s Sunoco Service.
